This time of year is the best time if you are living in Arizona. Chilly mornings followed by sunny afternoons with blue skies create the perfect setting to be out and about. Everyone is friendly and enjoying all the wonderful things Phoenix has to offer this time of year. The more time I spend in Arizona, the more I fall in love with my new home!
Because the weather this time of year is ideal for getting out on the weekends and checking out some of the local attractions, I’m going to help give you some options of where to go and what to see! These are some of my favorite things to do when I have a little extra time on Saturday or Sunday. Don’t worry, I’ll throw in some of my favorite places for a quick lunch or brunch too!
Check out the local Farmer’s Markets!
While I haven’t been to them all yet, there are definitely options when it comes to Phoenix Farmer’s Markets. Depending where you live, you may have even more than 1 option close by. Right around the corner from our condo is the Roadrunner Farmer’s Market which attracts a fairly large crowd every weekend this time of year! You can find everything from fresh produce, homemade tamales, jellies & jams, honey, spice mixes, nuts & snack mixes, and even something for your furry little pooch! It is perfect for a Saturday morning stroll with your family or girlfriends, and I’m sure will you find something fun and funky to take home with you! This market tends to run from about 7 or 8am to 1pm on Saturday mornings. Get there fast, parking tends to be tight!
Here is a list of a few other local options; check them out and let me know what you find!
Anthem Farmer’s Market – Anthem, AZ (Sundays)
Carefree Farmer’s Market – Carefree, AZ (Fridays)
The Capitol’s Farmer’s Market – Phoenix, AZ (Thursdays)
Ahwatukee Farmer’s Market- Ahwatukee, AZ (Sundays, *summer option available)
Go for a scenic hike or walk!
This past weekend I walked the Dreamy Draw trails with a few friends and soaked in some beautiful Arizona scenery. This hike is very light and easy, but gets you up, out, and active in the beautiful weather! Below are my top 3 Arizona hikes to try with family, friends, or to just challenge yourself!
Camelback Mountain – Cholla Trail
Difficulty – Moderately Hard
This trail provides a beautiful 360 degree view of Phoenix! It is fairly long in long in length for a beginner or new hiker so take your time and pack a snack for the top!
Difficulty – Very Hard
This is a shorter trail that providers a similar view to Camelback but is very, very steep. Be prepared to feel like you are climbing stairs the entire way up!
Dreamy Draw Trails
Difficulty – Easy
Looking more for a scenic walk with few hills? Check out these trails! Difficulty can vary depending on which trail you take, but in general it is perfect for a quiet Saturday morning with beautiful views of the city skyline!
Go grab brunch with a friend!
Where are some of my favorite brunch spots in Phoenix? Whether you are looking for a relaxing breakfast or a few mimosas with your girlfriends, all of these spots have something fun to offer! Located throughout the valley, make sure to check out the different locations and see what fits your mood best!
Chestnut Fine Foods and Provisions – Camelback & 44th St
Absolutely perfect location if you are driving through Arcadia and want to stop for a quick bite to eat! Only open for breakfast and lunch, this spot offers a variety of healthy eats and locally brewed Mama’s Cold Brew coffee which is one of my favs! What are my go to meals here? The Banana Bread Pancakes which are gluten free but fluffy, delicious, and full of banana flavor or the Morning Bimbap Bowl which is filled with quinoa, kale, eggs, onions, and topped with sriracha!
Postino’s Wine Cafe – Campbell & 40th St
Also located in the heart of Arcadia (although check the website, there are many other locations throughout the Valley!), this cute cafe has a specialty that is definitely a favorite of mine no matter the time of day — their bruschetta board! With lots of options to choose from, you can combine some of your favorite flavors onto one board and share a glass of wine or a bellini with friends for a delicious afternoon lunch!
OHSO Brewery Paradise Valley – Tatum & Shea
Also with multiple locations, this spot is perfect to pack up your pooch and go share a delicious breakfast together. With a large area for dogs to play and socialize in the back of the restaurant, you will tire out your furry friend and get to relax on your own as well! Saturday and Sunday mornings tend to get crowded fast, so get there quickly for a perfect spot to relax, eat, and socialize!
